Collection
The Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery is the caretaker of the Bundaberg Regional Council Collection on behalf of the community of Bundaberg and the Bundaberg Regional Council. The Arts Gallery's role is to develop preservation and conservation plans and practices to ensure the future protection of this Collection and to make it accessible to the Bundaberg and district community through exhibitions and public display.
The Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery's permanent collection is comprised of four sub-collections which amount to over 400 works across all art forms. The Collection sub-sections include: The Dr Egmont Schmidt Memorial Collection, The Bundaberg Regional Council Corporate Collection ( which now includes the former Burnett,
dr Egmont Schmidt Collection:
• Named after the Gallery's primary beneficiary, who donated a significant collection of 19th century artworks.
• The collection still grows through the acquisition of traditional art works from this period.
Bundaberg regional council Corporate Collection:
• Artworks acquired by donation from the Bundaberg Arts Festival – Acquisitive Prize.
• These paintings are specific for hanging in the Council Chambers and buildings.
The Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery Collection:
• This collection varies in media and style. They represent the heritage and visual arts practices of the District.
These are works by Artists who live, have lived, or have a strong association with Bundaberg & District.
• The art must be created since 1996.
Bundaberg Public Art Collection:
• These works are donated, purchased or specifically commissioned.
• All must meet the Public Art Policy.
